How long have you worked at ACIEM?
I’ve been with ACIEM for three and a half years.
What does your day-to-day job entail?
My day-to-day job involves processing plant and material requisitions, raising PO’s, tendering, ensuring goods are received on time, problem solving, vetting of subcontractors and maintaining our subcontractor database, assisting the finance department with enquiries, fleet management (soon to be moving to Group Services) and PPE maintenance. I’m also one of the ‘super users’ in training for our new software which will be launching in October this year.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I enjoy the diversity; no two days are the same. Talking with lots of different suppliers and the daily interactions with site and office staff. I also really enjoy problem solving. It’s always very rewarding when you have helped and enabled work to progress due to on time delivery of materials.
What are your aspirations for the business?
I would very much like to be part of the growth of ACIEM, where the client sees us as a company they can trust to deliver goods, on time and within budget. My role within this is to secure a robust supply chain.
Outside of work, what are you most passionate about?
Spending time with my family and grandchildren and going to my favourite place, the Dorset coastline, where I like to relax and watch my husband fishing.
What does your perfect weekend look like?
A spa weekend with a stay in the log cabins at Center Parcs at Longleat, and some good food with all the family.
When you were at school, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a nurse until I was 16 but then I went to a rugby game and witnessed one of the players dislocate his finger and it made me very squeamish so I decided to work for BT instead.
If you could go back in time to give yourself one piece of advice, what would it be?
Don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone and seize opportunities when they arise.
Describe yourself in one word
