ACIEM has recently completed a £220k project to replace two aeration lane air blowers. The scheme involved the replacement of the two blowers with more modern, energy efficient and reliable units.
The project required detailed design, installation and commissioning of the new blower equipment, including stainless steel mechanical pipework, GRP (glass reinforced plastic) kiosk and electrical installation.
A third blower was to remain operational whilst the other two were being replaced, which meant phasing the project delivery. In addition, there were logistical challenges to factor in due to the location of one of the blowers. As a result, ACIEM had to lift one half of the new kiosk as well as the two new blowers over the original blower in order to complete the works.
The project team comprised seven ACIEM employees and four local subcontractors, sourced to manufacture and install the kiosk and fabricate the required stainless steel pipework.
The original scheme duration was 15 weeks and the value engineering, in cooperation with the client, reduced the overall programme delivery by six weeks, thus producing savings to the budget.
ACIEM received 98% feedback from the client, further strengthening our continual good working relationship.
