Elaine Workman

Job Title

Financial Controller

How long have you worked at ACIEM?

Since January 2017 this time, but I previously worked here for three years as Finance Manager.

What made you want to return to ACIEM?

I met with Martin and decided to come on board for an interim period to support the finance and commercial IT section and implementation. I became a permanent member of staff in September this year.

What does your day-to-day entail?

The key focus for me at present is the implementation of our new IT accounting and commercial system, Evision, alongside managing a busy finance team, monthly financial reporting, forecasting and budgeting.

What do you enjoy most enjoy about your work?

The variety of people I work with, and knowing I am part of the bigger picture and future plans with ACIEM.

What are your aspirations for the business?

To provide systems and structures within the financial area that will allow the business to grow to its full potential.

How would like your role to develop within ACIEM?

I am working towards the role of financial director, which I hope to achieve over the coming 12 month period.

Outside of work what are you most passionate about?

All types of craft. I like nothing more than to start a new craft and never finish it, a habit I seem to have built up over the year – unlike my work, which I have to finish of course!

What does your perfect weekend look like?

Going to the cinema, meeting with friends over a glass of wine, or maybe a mini city break with my husband.

When you were at school, what did you want to be when you grew up?

An accountant… Only joking, I really wanted to be a nurse in the Royal Navy, following in the footsteps of my gran who was a psychiatric nurse.

If you could go back in time and give yourself one piece of advice what would it be?

Do more exercise, as I’m a bit of a couch potato.
